Barker v Rotolo

boxingposterDazzling Darren Barker headlines the bill for London’s Finest next Saturday as he takes on Italian Champion Simone Rotolo for the vacant IBF Intercontinental title at Wembley.

If Barker can dazzle in the same devastating fashion that saw him knock-out Kerry Hope in 4 rounds back in December at the Kensington Olympia he should be able to deliver his home fans a stylish victory. Rotolo has only once fought outside Italy in his 38 fight career in a split decision loss to Sebastian Sylvester for the European title. Barker has been in with the best that’s out there putting in a valiant display against the number one ranked and WBC Middleweight king Sergio Martinez, so he should possess the know- how and experience to deal with the 37 year old Italian on route to potentially another World title shot later in the year. I just can’t see past Barker to win this fight although Rotolo has only one stoppage to his name and may prove awkward and a tough nut to crack.

Boxing fans will all be drooling over the potential domestic Middleweight match-up between Barker and Matthew Macklin, although there are grave concerns that the fight will not be made. Lets hope boxing’s red tape doesn’t deny another potentially top fight.
