Brook v Jones II

Kell Brook will be looking to vanquish Carson Jones in style and show just how much he has improved as a result of their first encounter on Saturday at Craven Park in Hull.

‘Special K’ came across his first big test when he met Carson Jones last year. It was a fight in which he dominated the early proceedings then faded badly in the late stages where he took the only punishment of his career so far but hung on for a majority decision. He then changed his preparations and lifestyle that saw him produce a devastating performance against Hector Saldivia, knocking him out with a spearing lead left. At odds of 1/5 on to win outright, there’s not a great deal of value unless you stake big, so if you are sure of backing Brook there may be better value in backing him to KO jones where you can get over 2/1. After all he has an impressive 65.52KO%.

Brook however, may be rusty, he hasnt boxed in 2013 and there is always the possibility that the breakdown of his world title shot against Devon Alexander after a succession of injuries will have affected him mentally in terms of motivation. Carson Jones is certainly no mug either with 25 knockouts in 35 fights he will want to capitalise on the fact he is being overlooked. Odds in excess of 10/1 are available for a pts win. Its likely he would need a KO priced at 8/1 but a trade on the exchanges may be wiser if you can watch live.

I think Kell Brook will deliver. He will be eager to get back in a ring and get back into the position to challenge for a world title and will know exactly what to expect from Jones this time around. A unanimous points win is likely but I wouldn’t rule out a stoppage with the power he possesses.
