Martin Allen has stated his belief in his Gillingham side’s ability to kick on and gain promotion. His team will have the opportunity to back up his claims with a victory against Saturday’s visitors Plymouth Argyle.
The Gills will want to address their recent home form as they have only won 2 of their last 6 at Priestfield. They sit 2 points clear at the top and have games in hand over 2nd and 3rd place, so are really in the driving seat for the championship. They come into this fixture having not won in their last 2 so will have to start capitalising on the chasing Port Vale’s failure to win recently.
Plymouth Argyle will be scrapping for anything they can get. A good win at home to Barnet was enough to keep them from being cut adrift and they will be buoyed by the fact that they won’t be the team expected to win. The pilgrims have only won 1 in 9 games against teams operating in the top half of the league so the odds will be heavily stacked against them.
