British and Commonwealth champion; Billy Joe Saunders, will be looking to claim the Lonsdale belt outright in his third defence of the title at the Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where he faces off against another unbeaten prospect, John ‘The Gorilla’ Ryder.
Ryder 15W (9KO)-0L goes into the fight as the underdog at 9/4 -betfred. He is heavy handed enough to be a real threat in the fight so there may well be good value in taking a 5/1-ladbrokes on him to win by KO/TKO. It is likely that he will need to force a stoppage to gain the victory so if your backing Ryder it’s a good option. He is a southpaw which may stylistically cause some problems for his opponent who is also southpaw.
Billy Joe Saunders 18W (10KO)-0L has faced a higher calibre of opposition in his last few fights in the likes of Matthew Hall and Gary O’Sullivan and has shown he has the boxing skill as well as the knockout power that he demonstrated very early on in his pro-career. Although they are around the same level I feel that Saunders boxing education has progressed far quicker from being in with higher level, well known or unbeaten fighters.
His last 3 fights have been won by Unanimous decision and he is 10/11 Betfred for the Points win this time round which is a result that is highly likely. He looks to have the slicker skills and speed advantages as well as the better experience to outbox Ryder.
