Kid Galahad V James Dickens

Two rising unbeaten prospects are on a collision course set for the Magna Centre Rotherham on September 14th. Someone’s ‘O’ must go as Kid Galahad and Jazza Dickens battle it out for the British Super bantam weight title in a highly anticipated encounter.

Barry Awad, AKA Kid Galahad, hails from the infamous Ingles Stable based in Sheffield. He possess many of the qualities that have become synonymous with the long list of champions that have learned there craft in the Steel City with his unorthodox switch hitting style that has allowed him to develop and demonstrate his power in both hands. He seems to be improving all the time and 5 of his 7 knockouts have come within his last 6 fights showing that as the level of opposition facing him has been tougher he has actually been more devastating.

Dickens is a Southpaw which always poses a fighter a different set of problems. He is capable of sharp, snappy combination work but will have to work a lot harder to get his shots off against a target that wont be static and in front of him. It’s likely that he will be the aggressor in the fact that he’ll be on the front foot. Having been developed under Hatton Promotions you can see the influences of the Hitman, Ricky Hatton, to a lot of his work; he is a boxer who likes to rip punches to the body. Despite only possessing a 31.25 KO% with his last knockout coming 5 fights ago he will be desperate to test the chin of his opponent which hasn’t been tested since he took a count against Jason Booth 4 fights ago. Odds of 7/4 with Betfred certainly show he is not to be overlooked.

I think that Kid Galahad has faced a better calibre of fighters in his more recent fights and has the greater potential out of the two fighters. I also think he has the greater punching power and for these reasons he is worth backing at Odds of 4/9 with Betfred. However this is a fight which either man is capable of winning with a performance on the night and looks for both fighters to be their toughest ring assignments to date.
